Office of Communications and Institutional Marketing

The Spring Hill College Office of Communications and Institutional Marketing leads the College's efforts to articulate its mission and to generate goodwill and support for SHC among prospective students, parents, alumni, donors, on-campus constituents and friends, through the news and sports media, publications, special projects and electronic communications.

The Office of Communications and Institutional Marketing supports the strategic institutional, academic and administrative goals of the College with particular focus on the President's vision, the college's strategic planning initiatives and admissions and development efforts including alumni and donor relations.

Responsibilities and Services

The Office of Communications and Institutional Marketing responsibilities and services include:

  • Securing local, regional and on occasion national news coverage for programs, events, faculty, staff and students.
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with print and broadcast news media including developing and presenting story ideas to news reporters and editors.
  • Writing news releases and media advisories to generate positive publicity about the College.
  • Managing, maintaining and developing the college's Website.
  • Managing and regularly maintaining all official college information on social networks, e.g., Facebook, Twitter and Youtube and working with various offices on their initiatives in this area.
  • Handling all inquiries from the news media and when appropriate conducting personal and on-air interviews.
  • Producing and distributing the College's weekly electronic newsletter to faculty, staff and students.
  • Developing and maintaining the College's photo galleries and archives.
  • Developing and producing video presentations for admissions and the Website.
  • Assisting faculty and staff in writing opinion pieces (op-eds) on current issues.
  • Conducting media training.
  • Tracking local and national media placements.
  • Keeping up-to-date information on faculty and staff and important College activities.
  • Responding to the media during emergencies and serving as SHC's official spokesperson.
  • Managing all external advertising for the College and developing advertising and marketing plans for all college offices and programs.
  • Managing the college publications office and developing, writing copy and designing all academic and administrative office marketing materials.
  • Overseeing the sports information office.
  • Publishing the Spring Hill College Magazine.
  • Coordinating campus signage needs.
  • Coordinating various communications efforts for the College, including all information for external directories organizations and appropriate Websites.
