Cultural Impulse is hosting its first fundraising event for its philanthropy, Ronald McDonald House Charities. The organizations that will be competing are Tri Delta, Delta Gamma, Phi Mu, and NPC Executive Board. Who will win the war?

Phillip Counselman will present a lecture, “All Art and No Play.” Mr. Counselman is an Assistant Professor at the University of Mobile. He works in a variety of media, sculpture, painting and printmaking. His talk will be informative and entertaining, touching on but not limited to, making art when there is too much to do. Everyone is invited to attend.

The History Club will be showing the widely acclaimed documentary that dared to ask “Where does our food come from?” Join us for the movie and stay for a discussion.

The SHC Chemistry Club will be selling chemistry items including shirts, mugs, pens, and more!

P.R.I.D.E. will be showing the movie “Milk” starring Sean Penn. Join us and bring your favorite snacks to share!

Dr. Elise Labbe-Coldsmith will present “Mindfulness: Psychological Health and Spiritual Practice.”

The Friends of Spring Hill College Library are pleased to announce there will be a reading of Danielle Juzan’s recently written and soon to be produced play, “Artbruted.”

When the struggling M&M Art Gallery can’t pay its rent, the owner, Marian, aided by the ghost of her deceased business partner, Mark, concocts a scheme to pass off a local soccer mom’s sculptures as the work of an illiterate “outsider artist” from Dead Mule, Mississippi. Though they manage to deceive the newspaper’s arts critic, how much longer will luck smile on them? Juzan has written a comedy that entertains and manages to raise questions about the relationship of art’s provenance to its value, both perceived and intrinsic.

The cast is composed of local theatre notables Candace Weber as Marian; Cannon Tucker as Mark; Stacey Driskell as “the artist,” Jeannie; Laureann Price as Claudia, the arts critic; and Mike Green as Jason, the photographer. Afterward, there will be a reception at which the audience can meet the actors. Light refreshments will be served and a donation of $5 per person would be appreciated.

Get ready for Market on the Hill, an afternoon of outdoor fun. Shop with local farmers and take home some freshly caught Mobile Bay shrimp/oysters and blue crab. Come enjoy fair trade coffee and candy. Plenty of baked goods and organic treats. Shop for Christmas gifts at our own “green store.” Come see what the Green Keepers have made from your trash. Face painting and games for the kids. Don’t leave your best friend at home – we have organic treats for your pet, too.

The Admissions Office will hosts a Visit Day for prospective students and their families Monday, November 23. Our guests will attend class, speak with faculty members, take a campus tour and meet current students.

Turn off the lights and get unplugged because you have the power and it is time to use it wisely. The Green Keepers will spend the month of November educating students, staff and faculty on how to reduce their energy consumption. Together we can make a difference.
